Company Background:

The Everglades Youth Conservation Camp is owned and operated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. We are part of the Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network with our focus on creating the next generation that cares. EYCC offers 10 conservation-oriented programs each summer to children who have completed 3rd grade to high school. We are a sleep away summer camp; therefore staff and children live onsite from Sunday to Friday of each week. Daily activities include Archery, Swimming, Paddle Sports, and Fishing. The position includes free housing and meals for the entire summer camp season!

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Assist instructors with program activities
  • Supervise campers according to American Camp Association supervision standards and manage camper behavior
  • Facilitate night activities such as campfire programs, arts and crafts, games, and night hikes
  • Supervise all assigned aspects of the campers’ day and evening including waking campers up and communicating proper attire for the day and activity, cabin clean up, meal times, rest hour, evening activities, getting ready for bed, and after hours as assigned.

 Position Requirements

  • Availability (This is non-negotiable)
    • May 23rd for CPR/First Aid/AED Training 
    • May 26th - May 31st for All Staff Training
    • June 2nd - July 26th for all 8 weeks of summer camp
    • Note: Some instructor positions require additional training in May
  • Valid form of a Photo ID and Social Security Card
  • No criminal record
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply

 

 Position Details and Benefits

  • $600 per week. Salary is flat rate, not hourly.
  • Day off: Saturdays
  • Hours: Counselors are responsible for the supervision of campers in the evening and at night. Counselors will receive a four hour break either in the morning (8am-12pm) or afternoon (2pm-6pm).  
  • Counselors are required to live onsite during the work week but may go home during off time.
