Education Intern

Hone your journalism skills in one of the hottest current topics, education, at one of the nation’s leading news organizations that reaches more than 40 million people each month. We’re looking for a motivated intern to join our Consumer Advice Education team for 10 weeks this summer. You’ll be part of a fun, creative, and talented team with abundant opportunities to contribute and grow personally and professionally.
Job Responsibilities
  • Possibly write occasional advice-focused articles on higher education topics, including some updates of older content.
  • Assist with lightly editing, fact-checking, and proofreading education blog posts.
  • Participate in idea brainstorming and provide researched feedback on potential topics.
  • Possible opportunities to make TikTok videos for social media promotion.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements:
  • Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
  • Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
  • Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
  • May 2022 graduate (Summer Interns Only)
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
  • 3.0 GPA or above preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong reporting and writing skills.
  • Editing experience or strong interest.
  • Familiarity with current higher education issues.
  • Studying or degree in print or digital journalism.
Summer Intern Program Description:
  • 10 weeks; ideally, starting on Monday, June 6 through Friday, August 12
  • We expect interns to work 37.5 hours/week, Monday- Friday
  • All interns are paid $15.20/hour
