Intern, Applied Epidemiology

Reports to: Senior Manager, Applied Epidemiology
 
Location: Washington, DC; Option to Work Remotely (only in NY, MA, NE, OH, WA, NC, PA, RI, FL, MD, VA, DC)

The Intern, Applied Epidemiology will perform data management activities and other research activities as needed in support of the Surveillance for Enteric Fever in Asia Project (SEAP), which systematically collects data on the clinical and community burden of enteric fever in Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. The ideal candidate will have experience with SAS software and an interest in multi-site epidemiological research.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with data management in SAS, including bimonthly data merges and data cleaning
  • Participate in SEAP project coordinator calls with SEAP site partners and Sabin SEAP staff
  • Assist with statistical analyses in SAS software, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned
 
Requirements:
  • Current graduate student in epidemiology or public health
  • Experience with SAS software
  • Experience with data collection and management, a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word), Adobe Acrobat, Zoom video conferencing and conducting internet searches
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to process information quickly and work independently
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Detail-oriented, dependable
  • Available for 10-15 hours per week during the Fall 2021 semester
