  • Head Start offers opportunity for on-site professional development scheduled during work hours, a team-oriented program that assists with providing the best service for our families, and individualized coaching.

  • Head Start is a no cost, all-inclusive, child-focused and family-centered preschool program for children ages 3-5. A range of individualized services in the areas of education, early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, family support, and parent education.

  • This will be a nine-month working position (stretch) that will be paid for twelve months. Comprehensive benefits include paid time off for vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays off, medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement, and $2,000 annual tuition reimbursement.

TEACHER ASSOCIATE

  • The Head Start Teacher Associate will support the Lead Teacher in classroom duties, implementing curriculum, and maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance standards including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health. Head Start offers opportunities for on-site professional development scheduled during work hours, a team-oriented program that assists you with providing the best service for our families, and individualized coaching.

  • We are currently hiring multiple Teacher Associates for the 2021-2022 school year; one will be hired for our low-stimulus classroom where social emotional learning is a priority.

TEACHER ASSOCIATE ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • The Head Start Teacher Associate will be responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher with the following duties:

  • Implementation of Creative Curriculum

  • Developing lesson plans

  • Administering development, social and emotional screenings

  • Conducting observations and notation of documentation

  • Actively supervising children

  • Teaching developmentally appropriate practices and utilize trauma informed care

  • Ensuring compliance with Head Start performance standards within the classroom including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health, and mental health

  • Partnering with a multi-disciplinary team including mental health specialists, special education professionals, and family support workers to provide the best service for our families

  • Supporting peers by collaborating and sharing experiences to finding solutions together

TEACHER ASSOCIATE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To qualify as a Teacher Associate, you must meet one of the three bullets listed below:  

  • Child Development Associate credential (CDA), or State awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for CDA credential,

  • Enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of employment (Hours working in the classroom may be used for teaching hours required for CDA
)
  • Enrolled in a program leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree

TEACHER ASSOCIATE PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a classroom or center focusing on early childhood education or development

  • Experience implementing social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum in a preschool setting

  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to utilize computer programs for documentation

LEAD TEACHER

  • The Lead Teacher will be responsible for implementing curriculum, maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance standards, and partnering with a multi-disciplinary team to provide the best service to our Head Start Families.

LEAD TEACHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • The Lead Teacher is responsible for: 

  • Delivering Creative Curriculum that are developmentally appropriate lesson plans, including activities geared toward social-emotional development and utilizing trauma informed care practices 

  • Working with your Co-Teacher / Teacher Associate to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards within the classroom including education, disabilities, parent involvement, nutrition, health and mental health, etc.  

  • Conducting observations, administering development, social, and emotional screenings, and maintaining clear and complete documentation
  
  • Actively supervising children  

  • Partnering with a multi-disciplinary team including mental health specialists, special education professionals, and family support workers to provide the best service for our families including home visits, family conferences, and implementation of Individual Education Plans  

  • Supporting peers by collaborating and sharing experiences to finding solutions together

LEAD TEACHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • To qualify as a Lead Teacher, you must meet one of the three bullets listed below:  

  • An associate’s, bachelor’s, or advanced degree in child development or early childhood education (ECE)  

  • An associate’s, bachelor’s, or advanced degree in a related field with coursework equivalent to ECE AND a minimum of one-year work related experience teaching preschool age children.  

  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree AND one of the following: 

  • Currently or previously admitted into Teach for America Program 
 
  • Passed an EC exam (ex: Praxis II)  

  • Participated in a Teach for America summer training institute
  
LEAD TEACHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or Child Development

  • 3 years of previous preschool classroom experience

  • 1-3 years of Head Start experience

  • Offer of employment contingent on review of child abuse neglect database, fingerprint results, criminal background, sex offender registry, motor vehicle record check, and education verification. 

  • Must have a valid driver's license, if you are from out of state, you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years. 

  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends, and willingness to occasionally travel to assigned Head Start Sites (Arvada or Wheat Ridge).
