Entry Level Paralegal

Job Description: This position is an invaluable opportunity for college graduates interested in building on or developing experience in at the intersection of international economics and law. Paralegals work directly with partners, associates, and economists who have decades of expertise and experience working in top law firms and inside government.

New hires will assist the firm with administrative functions, such as receiving and organizing service and other documents to learn the ropes. The position quickly evolves to include duties such as (1) drafting and editing legal writing (e.g., forms, letters, and briefs before the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. International Trade Commission, U.S. Court of International Trade, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, etc.), (2) researching, tabulating, and compiling quantitative and qualitative data, and (3) working closely with clients through hearing preparation and long-term projects. Candidates interested and willing to commit at least two or three years to the position will be preferred, and will be best situated to gain from the substantive experience and growth this position offers.

Desired Experience: One to two years of related legal or office experience, the highest level of professionalism, a record of sound judgment, intrinsic motivation and high standard for one’s work product, keen attention to detail, and understandings of discretion and confidentiality. Also critical are proven administrative capabilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, demanding environment, and, among other accomplishments, a strong academic background. Minimum GPA of 3.3 or higher.
Desired Skills: Command of Microsoft Office (including familiarity with Excel), professional research and writing ability, familiarity with Adobe Acrobat is a plus, strong organization skills, ability to multi-task.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with flexibility for OT required.

This is a contract to hire position. Contract pay is $20.00 per hour with a conversion salary of $45k.
