Sports Management Associate (Summer Internship)

The Sports Management Associate(Intern) position requires a eager individual that will bring fresh ideas to the table. They will reporting directly to the a Senior Sports Manager. The position will develop skills to help manage leagues and events on evenings and weekends, as well as planning. The Sports Management Associate will also support all efforts and projects designed to build the infrastructure of the company and help it grow. Job Responsibilities: 
  • Manage the high school and adult basketball league
  • Assist with the development of the United League
  • Assist with the development of a year round marketing strategy
  • Create game schedules for all tournaments
  • Review team standings and develop game and infraction pools
  • Develop and implement new programs including leagues and tournaments
  • Coordinate webcasting and live scoring for all events
  • Utilize all social media, such as Face Book, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Establish and maintain website columns and articles
  • Handle customer service of phone and lobby basketball customers
  • Serve as tournament director
  • Complete tournament wrap up, including writing stories for the website, tournament results and forwarding necessary paperwork to the National AAU office
  • Assist with developing the annual events calendar
  • Plan and attend Coaches’ Meetings
  • Prepare public service announcements and newspaper articles
  • Serve as liaison to the sports officials
  • Become cross trained on all sports
  • All other duties assigned by the Senior Sports Manager

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of organized sports, business of sports, and sports marketing
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team
  • Self-starter and very resourceful
  • Junior/Senior/Recent College Graduate
 
Degree Type: BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience (Sports Management)
