NSU Undergraduate Research Volunteer: Angiotensin Hypertension Neuroscience
Focus: We study the angiotensin system, with a special emphasis on its actions in the brain associated with neurodegenerative diseases, e.g., Alzheimer's Disease, psychological states, e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder, cardiovascular health, e.g., blood pressure regulation, and inflammatory diseases. The techniques we use include receptor binding assays in membranes and tissue slices, enzymatic assays, in vivo animal models of cardiovascular disease, and genomic analyses of relationships of gene expression of proteins of the angiotensin system with cancer and other diseases.
Position description: Research Volunteer/Unpaid
Student Participation: Some previous experience working in a research laboratory.
Time Commitment: 4-6 hours/week during school year, 20+ hours per week during summer.
