AmeriCorps VISTA Meal Site Developer

The goal of Metropolitan Ministries in the area of food security/hunger is to assess and map the food resources in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco Counties to identify current resources and gaps in services which can be addressed with new food distribution sites and new food resources.

This position is an AmeriCorps VISTA position serving at Metropolitan Ministries. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve full time for one-year terms. Benefits for VISTA members include: A bi-weekly living allowance of $472.22; end of service cash stipend or education award of $5,920; healthcare allowance or health benefit plan; childcare if qualified; relocation allowance; loan forbearance; and training. Position Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Build & Manage partnerships with meal sites in Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties to provide distribution in under-served areas
  • Create database to better cultivate food resilience programs
  • Map data to present to Extended Leadership team
  • Develop evaluation processes to create sustainable improvement


Education and Experience:
Pursuing BA/BS degree

Skill Requirements:
Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; must be able to communicate effectively in English; dependability; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity; ability to plan and organize work and attend to detail; ability to handle job related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner.

Physical Requirements:
Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information; physical, emotional and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.

Demonstrates a passion for the mission and vision of AmeriCorps and Metropolitan Ministries. Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must pass applicable pre-internship background screening procedures.  
Must be willing to relocate to Tampa.
