Virtual Internship-Foreign Media Analyst for @StateDeptPM

The Bureau of Political Military Affairs, Office of Congressional and Public Affairs is looking for smart, capable individuals to track foreign language coverage of over $170 billion of PM Bureau programs in Arabic, French, or Spanish.

@StateDeptPM is looking for highly motivated, self-starters to track media reports in Arabic, French, or Spanish on the $170 Billion in U.S. Government programs we administer, to include: foreign military and direct commercial sales, security assistance, peacekeeping, and conventional weapons destruction.Using English-language resources we provide, the incumbent will research, analyze, and translate relevant articles and social media mentions of the above programs in brief daily/weekly reports. We do not seek bulk translation but only to flag specific items of interest for Bureau and Department leadership.Announcements of U.S. arms sales and security assistance are breaking news, with major implications for national security and global markets. The incumbent will gain valuable experience working at the intersection of foreign policy, international business, and media relations. Their analysis will inform policymakers and impact how decisions are implemented .

The ideal candidate will be proficient in one of the requested languages and also have commensurate knowledge of the country or region in question. Students of journalism, international relations, business, national security policy, history, or area studies would all have the relevant skills and experience.
