POSITION TITLE:  Instructor – General Caseload
                                   E. H. Gentry Technical Facility

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
·        Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Secondary Education, or related field.
·        Possess a valid Alabama Teaching Certificate.
·        Experience teaching individuals who have cognitive or other learning disabilities desired.
·        Possess necessary computer skills & knowledge of instructional practices that incorporate the use of computer & other technology skills.
·        Participate in in-service training as needed.
·        A sign level of SURVIVAL according to the AIDB evaluation system within the first thirty (30) months of employment.
·        Upon offer of employment, the ABI/FBI record check must be completed based on the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 pursuant to Act 2002-457. A non-refundable fee of $46.90 is required at the scheduled appointment. Suitable criteria must be confirmed by the Alabama State Department of Education prior to beginning to work. 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
·        Provide instruction to students in the General caseload, in basic academics, including math, money management, language, writing, and reading.
·        Provide instruction to students in preparing for the GED and including the content areas reasoning through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Social Studies, and Science.
·        Provide instruction for the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate.
·        Develop lesson plans and follow appropriate curricula as determined by Adult Education assessment instruments.
·        Develop & utilize a variety of instructional strategies and tools appropriate to the needs of the student.
·        Develop & utilize lesson plans aligned with CCR Standards that integrate instruction across content areas.
·        Apply research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies.
·        Be willing to teach other subject areas as needed depending on schedule and/or consumer needs.
·        Develop lesson plans, plans of instruction (POI’s), and individualized program plans (IPP’s) in formats such as GRIN (Gentry Resource Information Network) and AAESAP (Alabama Adult Education System for Accountability and Performance).
·        Provide academic remediation geared to improve student performance on standardized tests such as WorkKeys, Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and Ready to Work tests.
·        Must become familiar with the testing guidelines and requirements, forms and documentation, and procedure for the HSDO – The Non-Traditional High School Diploma Options program.
·        Prepare and maintain daily records, monthly progress reports, staffing reports, other required documentation, and monthly Adult Education reports.
·        Plan and assist in the development and implementation of field trips, extra-curricular, and special activities as requested.
·        Provide classroom/on-site supervision and management to insure a safe and effective learning environment.
·        Provide individualized instruction to accommodate the individual student’s intellectual and academic functioning levels.
·        Participate in a departmental team approach of preparing students in job readiness skills, such as proper dress, attitude, interview skills, and techniques for successful job search.
·        Develop and maintain rapport with staff and clients.
·        Attend and participate in all required in-service and staff meetings.
·        Maintain classroom and/or work area in a clean and organized manner.
·        Perform other duties as assigned.


SALARY: $50,161- $66,538         Scale GI   Rank IB  (Class B Certificate)
                $58,793 - $76,459       Scale GI   Rank IA      (Class A Certificate)
                $62,592 - $80,819          Scale GI   Rank II    (Class AA Certificate)

                       230 Days- Monthly Payroll

                       Direct deposit is required.
This is an exempt position, and is not subject to overtime or compensatory provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
