Summer Educators/Mentors for Elementary/Middle School STEM programs

Summer Elementary/Middle School Stem Advisors (educators): The Advisor is responsible for providing the best academic experience possible for all scholars. This includes the facilitation of all educational curricula, providing a safe environment for scholars, and directly influencing each scholar’s growth throughout the program. Advisors report to the Education Lead. This is a paid position that potentially will travel (meals, travel, and accommodations are provided). All staff is required to attend training. Training location varies and contingent on the assigned session location.

  • Learning Agility: Learns quickly when facing new problems. Is a relentless and versatile learner and is open to change. Learns through successes and failures. Enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks and can quickly discern the underlying structure of anything, mainly the STEM curriculum.
  • Strategic Agility: Sees ahead clearly and can anticipate future consequences and trends. Is future-oriented and offers broad knowledge and perspective when it comes to STEM fields. Can articulately create visions of possibilities and outcomes.
  • Managing Complex Decisions: Can solve even the toughest and most complex of problems. Great at gleaning meaning from whatever data is available and tying it back to STEM. Is a quick study and adds personal wisdom and experience to arrive at the best conclusion and solutions for the best customer experience.
  • Creating the New and Different: Is creative, a visionary, and can manage innovation through an effective instructional strategy of STEM curriculum. Can create and bring exciting ideas to the classroom and is comfortable speculating about alternative paths for students to travel.
  • Innovation Leadership: Provide the necessary critical thinking skills to determine the necessary approaches to get things done. Offers good judgment about which creative ideas and suggestions will work; has a sense about managing the creative process of others, including students; can facilitate effective brainstorming; can project how potential ideas may play out with the audience.
  • Action-Oriented: Enjoys working hard and is full of energy. Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully and is consistently a top performer. Steadfastly pushes self and others for results.
  • Integrity and Trust: Is widely trusted; is seen as a direct, truthful individual; can present the unvarnished truth in an appropriate and helpful manner; keeps confidence; admits mistakes; doesn’t misrepresent him/herself for personal gain.

Experience and Educational Requirements
  • Minimum of 1+ years of facilitation experience
  • Experience and/or immense passion in the STEM fields
  • Experience creating new opportunities from the start of projects to finish
  • An undergraduate degree in Education or Science is preferred
  • Experience communicating and maintaining effective relationships
