Office and Administrative Specialist


This position is responsible for ensuring the general and administrative support needs are met for the MPCA's Remediation and Watershed Divisions. It will also support the south regional offices, as needed.

Responsibilities include document processing, filing, mail receipt and distribution, assisting/directing customers, answering phones, and copying services. This position will also serve as the backup to the other Regional Offices and Administrative Specialist (OAS) in Saint Paul. The incumbent will need a working knowledge of how to effectively create and disseminate information regarding the programs, laws, and activities of the MPCA.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Typing and word processing skills sufficient to produce documents and reports in an efficient and quality manner.
  • Data entry skills sufficient to enter data efficiently and correctly.
  • Customer service and human relation skills in order to treat customers and staff in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • English skills sufficient to understand written instructions and provide information to customers and staff.
  • Good basic math skills.

  •    Manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  •    Provide support to multiple staff members;
  •    Learn program rules and policies;
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Driver’s License Requirements
Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
