Outdoor Education Instructor

The South Carolina Waterfowl Association is looking for a Natural Resource Instructor for Camp Leopold, a program designed to immerse students in the outdoors and develop an understanding and appreciation for wildlife conservation. Instructors will teach school groups from all over the state of South Carolina on a 1, 2, or 2.5 day program. The instructor will help prepare the facility for upcoming groups, teach classes ranging from wetland ecosystems to team building, and ensure that teachers and students alike are given an enjoyable, engaging, and enlightening trip.

Housing will be provided at our 587-acre Wildlife Education Center (WEC), which is less than a mile from Lake Marion and within an hour's drive of both Charleston and Columbia. Meals will be provided when school groups are attending (meals are not provided on weekends or when the facility has not been booked) and there are laundry facilities on site. Candidates may be considered for other employment options within the organization after successfully demonstrating the ability to perform expected duties.

Qualifications:
-Candidates must have or be working towards a Bachelor's degree in environmental education, natural resources, wildlife sciences, or a related field.
-Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License.
-Experience working with youth in a learning environment.
-Ability to work nontraditional hours, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
-Enthusiasm, initiative, and passion for teaching youth about the outdoors is a must.


Salary:
$250/week with lodging
