Botanic Specialist II - Natural Resources Ecologist

The City of Portland's Bureau of Parks & Recreation (PP&R) is seeking a Botanic Specialist II - Natural Resources Ecologist. This position manages a portfolio of PP&R natural areas and natural resource projects in a variety of habitats within PP&R's City Nature West program. Work includes collaborating with planners, scientists, engineers, permit authorities, contractors, community groups and non-profit organizations to develop and implement appropriate natural resource management strategies and solutions. The Botanic Specialist II's essential duties and responsibilities include planning, organizing, managing and monitoring resource protection, restoration, mitigation, and enhancement projects. This position acts as a team leader for day to day operations; providing technical assistance on natural vegetation issues, restoration techniques, and wildlife habitat impacts. Responsibilities also include drafting guidance documents for natural resource management, reviewing codes and plans for effects on natural environments and the feasibility of actual implementation.
