VSFS Editor - A Veteran's Story, Instagram, OR Operation Song

EDITOR - A VETERAN'S STORY

THIS IS A VIRTUAL INTERNSHIP.

PROJECT SUMMARY: Review "A Veteran’s Story" blog posts written by fellow interns for publishing on the VAntage Point blog and official VA social feeds with a monthly audience of over 2 million.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Are you good with a red pen? Do you have an eye for detail or an ear for awkward phrasing? Consider joining VA’s Digital Media Engagement team! Editing interns are responsible for reviewing written work and making edits as needed before submitting content to our team for final review and publishing. Blog posts are written and submitted by other interns, but need to be reviewed for typos, correct grammar and phrasing, correct use of AP Style, and adherence to VA style.

A Veteran’s Story provides in-depth stories about a Veteran’s excellent work during or after their service. These pieces do not simply recount key details of a Veteran’s service, but provide deeper information and allow more creative freedom in storytelling.

Our communication work is a representation of the VA as a whole. Publishing accurate, quality work is one of our team’s most important obligations, so we are looking for people who can help ensure that every post is ready to go before it is published.

REQUIRED SKILLS & INTERESTS: Editing and Proofreading

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: To be selected for this position, you must have experience editing content for a publication, school newspaper, blog, newsletter or other communication platform. Some experience and familiarity with AP Style is preferred.View our work: http://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/.
