VSFS Graphic Designer

Virtual Graphic Designer


PROJECT SUMMARY: Design branded web-based visual media products to accompany posts published on the VAntage Point blog and official VA social feeds with a monthly audience of over 2 million.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Do you have an eye for detail? Consider joining VA’s Office of Digital Media Engagement as a graphic design intern. Graphic design interns are responsible for planning, designing, developing, modifying and completing visual information projects for web-based visual media products which support the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The graphics communicate with Veterans, their family members, and the public on matters affecting their daily lives from health care and insurance to monetary compensation and suicide prevention. This graphic design team will be primarily responsible for creating visuals for VA’s Veteran of the Day posts on the VAntage Point blog: http://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/category/veteran/.

REQUIRED SKILLS OR INTERESTS: Graphic Design

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Graphic design interns are expected to have a level of knowledge and experience using Adobe Photoshop.

If you are selected for this internship, this is the level of work you will be expected to produce.You will be expected to have your own computer and your own license for Adobe Photoshop as they will not be provided for a virtual internship. This has not seemed to be an issue for previous graphic design interns.

The Department of Veterans Affairs' Digital Media Engagement Team internship is one of the largest and most established internship programs available through the Virtual Student Federal Service. Last year, our internship had approximately 120 interns in various departments and leadership positions. If you want to join a team that is well structured and will offer meaningful work that will help you build skills that you can actually add to your resume, then you should definitely join our team.

Virtual Graphic Designer - Facebook, Twitter, OR Instagram


PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This graphic design team will be primarily responsible for creating visuals for VA's official Instagram, Facebook, OR Twitter account. However, you are very likely going to be called upon to create graphics for other areas such as other social media platforms, the VA's official blog and various other online platforms we manage.


Virtual Graphic Designer - A Veteran's Story


PROJECT SUMMARY: Design branded web-based visual media products to accompany A Veteran’s Story features published on the VAntage Point blog and official VA social feeds with a monthly audience of over 2 million.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The graphics communicate with Veterans, their family members, and the public on matters affecting their daily lives from health care and insurance to monetary compensation and suicide prevention. A major focus of this work will be on A Veteran’s Story. A Veteran’s Story provides in-depth stories about a Veteran’s excellent work during or after their service. These pieces do not simply recount key details of a Veteran’s service, but provide deeper information and allow more creative freedom in storytelling

Virtual Graphic Designer - Web Design


PROJECT SUMMARY: Design branded web-based visual media products to accompany posts published on the VAntage Point blog and other websites.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Graphic design interns are responsible for planning, designing, developing, modifying and completing visual information projects for web-based visual media products which support the Department of Veterans Affairs. The graphics communicate with Veterans, their family members, and the public on matters affecting their daily lives from health care and insurance to monetary compensation and suicide prevention.

This graphic design team will be primarily responsible for creating visuals for VA's official VAntage Point blog. However, you are very likely going to be called upon to create graphics for other areas such as Facebook, Instagram, the VA's digital media internship blog and various other online platforms we manage.

Virtual Graphic Designer - Operation Song


PROJECT SUMMARY: Help share the personal stories of hundreds of Veterans who have used musical therapy through the nonprofit organization Operation SongTM. Create graphics to accompany engaging content about Veterans’ songs and stories for publishing on our Vantage Point blog http://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Do you have an eye for detail combined with Photoshop skills? Consider joining VA’s office of Digital Media Engagement as a design intern for the Operation Song project. Design interns are responsible for planning, designing, developing, modifying and completing visual information / graphic design projects for web-based visual media products which support the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The graphics communicate with Veterans, their family members, and the public on matters affecting their daily lives from health care and insurance to monetary compensation and suicide prevention. A major focus of this work will be on Operation Song. Through this office, a group of content creators work with Operation SongTM, a nonprofit organization based in Tennessee that uses musical therapy to help Veterans. Through this partnership, interns create blog posts highlighting Veterans who have written songs through the organization.
