Global Risk Management Summer Associate

Global Risk Management (GRM) is a critical function of Capital Group, providing compliance and operational risk management subject-matter expertise, and supporting the business areas through various risk-assessment activities, including:
  • Conducting assessments and targeted projects to provide objective perspective of operational risks and controls
  • Performing independent testing of operating effectiveness
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of policies and procedures designed to follow relevant federal securities laws; supporting the chief compliance officers
  • Global risk oversight and monitoring

Our Summer Associate Program aims to provide an experience that mirrors the life of a full-time associate with respect to workload, responsibilities and expectations. You will contribute to your department, team and project in a meaningful way and make valuable contributions directly through your work.

As a Summer Associate based in Irvine or L.A. your responsibilities may include:
  • Performing risk and control assessments, related to both operational and compliance risks
  • Contributing to various organization risk oversight and reporting responsibilities such as vendor risk assessment, operational issue management, control improvement coordination
  • A meaningful project which will have an immediate impact on the business, such as improving the internal control structure, streamlining existing processes or implementing new technology

Who we're looking for:
  • You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, in sophomore or junior standing (accounting, business or economics a plus)
  • You have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • You are able to travel between Irvine and Los Angeles offices
  • You learn quickly and analyze problems in new ways
  • You are able to think independently yet actively contribute in a collaborative environment
  • You are a clear and thoughtful communicator
  • You have some understanding of risk, controls, and project management
